So I am going to introduce you a new way to save our environment. Generally we see that there are problems of electricity. You can generate your own electricity by investing a small portion of your investment.
Today you can generate your electricity at own. It looks amazing but it is really very easy. You can use now solar glass as new energy solution for your electricity. It is now available in India. You can use solar glass as new building material. Building integrated solar photovoltaic solar electric glazing is being used by architects and builders here as an innovative and green energy solution.
Glass has come now a long way from a building product that only provided a view and kept out the weather. Glass products are now available as active elements that contribute to a building's energy and environmental concerns. BIVP electric glazing works by adopting a technology called photovoltaic. A semiconductor silently converts sun lights into electricity with no moving parts, no depletion, no waste or emission and no fuel, is required beyond free sunlight falling on it. For this you will only require sun light only which is in abundant. This technology is already being used in US, Japan and Europe. This technology is forwarding its step in India also.
This technology is very reasonable as this replace conventional construction material like glass, granite, marble etc. By this you can reduce your cost also. BIVP is building integrated technology for integration of energy needs. It generates electricity from the sun. This energy can be saved and used for further needs of the building. So this will be act as future generator of electricity. There are three types of products available that suits to the different needs and budgets.

With so many choices, you may be wondering which type of wooden hangers are right for you.
Pine, walnut, cedar and bamboo are just some of the choices that you have. You can choose based solely on style if you want to, all wooden hangers are very strong and beautiful. Just make sure that you buy yours from a high quality manufacturer and your wooden hangers could last a lifetime.
Pine is probably the cheapest of the wooden hangers. They always have a really nice wood grain that is brought out by different stains. Pine hangers are strong, but the wood is softer than most. You may notice dents or scrapes after you use them for a while. Pine wooden hangers are preferred by a lot of people because they are less expensive and they are light weight. They usually come in a natural color, but are sometimes offered in black or white.
Walnut is a much harder wood and should stay looking new for many years. Walnut is a darker wood than pine, which is naturally almost white or yellow. Walnut stains to a nice deep brown or reddish brown. Walnut is a very dense, sturdy wood used for cabinetry or fine furniture. Hangers made from walnut could last you your entire life without ever looking old or worn. Lots of people love the sturdiness of the walnut hanger, but may choose it solely because the dark color adds sophistication and beauty to their closet.
Cedar is certainly the most popular hanger on the market. Cedar hangers have beautiful red wood grain. Cedar hangers are not varnished or painted because the wood absorbs moisture and adds a pleasant smell to your closet. This is not only because they smell good, but because they actually absorb odors, deodorizing your closet. Cedar hangers also repel moths and can protect your closet from molds and mildews. If the smell seems to fade after a few years, you can gently rub fine-grit sandpaper over the surface and your cedar hangers will smell like new again. Cedar hangers are especially useful in coat closets and storage closets.

Crushing Machinery: The Past and Present

In China, there had been the most simple crushing tool--ball and socket in 2000 BC. From the 200 BC to 100 BC,the crushing machinery--ball and socket further evolved into the foot pestle. These tools using the leverage were the initial prototype of the crushing machine, but their action was still intermittent crushing.
The earliest crushing machine with continuous crushing action was invented by the Lu Ban living in the late Spring and Autumn Period. The other with continuous grinding action was the roller grinding machinery, it appeared later. 200 AD later, Du Yu and other Chinese had developed the water-mill based on the foot pestle, and the water was the driving force, which improved production efficiency to a new level. These machines were used for grain processing, but also extended to other materials on the crushing operations.
Modern crusher had been created after the gradual improvement of steam engine and electric motors. In 1806 there appeared steam engine-driven roller crusher. In 1858, Blake, in the United States, invented the jaw crusher. Rotary crusher was developed in 1878, the production efficiency was higher than the jaw crusher with intermittent crushing action. In 1895, American William invented impact crusher which was lower energy consumption.
Meanwhile, the grinding machinery also had a corresponding development. In the early 19th century, ball mill had been widely used. Rod mill with uniform size of the discharge was invented based on the development of ball mill in 1870. In the 1930s, Americans and Germans had developed a roller bowl mill, roller mill and other vertical shaft mill.
With the development of technology, so far crushing machinery development has made considerable progress. Especially after the 1990s, crusher production and sales increased rapidly, while the number of enterprises continued to increase. These enterprises could produce 30 ton vibrating crusher, 24 ton static roller crusher and 30 ton tire crusher and other range of varieties of products. They had self-development and production of complete crusher manufacturing system, and the gap with international advanced level was gradually narrowing. Therefor, crushing machinery industry was entering a new period of development.
In the twenty-first century, there are a group of outstanding enterprises in the crushing machinery industry. In these companies, you can see the latest development of crushing machinery. A lot of experts who are dedicated to advanced research and development of crushing equipment have developed crusher with international technical standards. Some high-quality products are as follows: jaw crusher, impact crusher, cone crusher, mobile crushing plant, high pressure suspension grinder, sand making machine, and the production line with the feeder, vibrating screen and a full set of aggregate conveyors.

    What Is Tempered Glass?

Tempered glass is about four to five times stronger than regular glass because it goes though a controlled heating process. The process involves extreme heating of the glass in a tempering oven, followed by a rapid cooling to produce a hard outer layer. This type of glass is known by many different names, including safety, heat-treated, and thermal glass.
    Why Is Tempering Used?
Heat-treated glass is safer than standard types because it has been through a tempering process to increase its strength. The controlled thermal treatment produces a product that is more scratch-resistant and less likely to break or crack. Even if tempered glass does break, it shatters into small pieces when broken, not dangerous shards that can cause serious injury. However, if one small piece of tempered glass cracks or breaks, the entire sheet will crumble at once.
Because tempered glass is safer than regular types, it is ideal for use in car windows, shower and tub enclosures, doors, storefronts, display cases, and tabletops. Heat-treated glass is used in motor vehicles to avoid harm to passengers in case of a collision; it is used for shower doors, tub enclosures, skylights, and any frameless door enclosure; it is also well suited for shelves, tables, and display cases that will carry heavy objects.
Tempered glass is often used in several kitchen devices, including carafes, coffee pots, oven windows, and refrigerator shelves. It is also used in eyewear and computer screens.
    Limitations of Tempering
While tempered glass is safer than other types, it does have its disadvantages. All glass must be cut to size, shaped, polished, and holes drilled prior to the heat-treating process.
    Benefits of Tempered Products
This type of glass is stronger and safer than other products, and it has grown in popularity in past years. If you are considering remodeling your home with new windows, skylights, shower doors, or other glass products, speak to a local contractor about the benefits of tempering.

DS Smith Packaging Premium Installs a Diana X 115

French high-end packaging producer DS Smith Packaging Premium is installing a Diana X 115 folding carton gluing machine from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) at its site in Cognac. This machine is the first in France to be equipped with the new Diana Inspection Control module unveiled at drupa 2012. Thanks to this innovation, defective cartons are identified at high machine speeds and subsequently removed by the integrated ejector module - for continuous production and perfect quality. This enables the sheet plant, which is part of the DS Smith Group, to ensure the comprehensive quality assurance that is essential for a company specializing in high-quality wine and spirits packaging.
"The quality assurance systems, the flexibility of production, and the outstanding productivity of the machine meet our high demands for manufacturing luxury packaging. This investment strengthens our market position, because the Diana X 115 improves our delivery times and ensures the high level of quality our customers expect from us," stresses Matthias De Christen, Managing Director of DS Smith Packaging Premium.
The Diana Inspection Control module consists of a camera system that is used to check folding carton quality based on reference samples. Defective cartons are identified prior to folding and gluing. The machine's ejector module, which is located after the folding station, then reliably removes them from the machine at high speeds.
The stand-out feature of the machine configuration selected by DS Smith Packaging Premium is its exceptional flexibility in production. Combining a collapsible box module with a lockbottom module, it enables very quick changeovers from lockbottom to four-corner carton production. There are two packing systems to choose from after the compression and delivery section - the Diana Packer for automated packing of straightline cartons and the FAS packing aid for lockbottom cartons. Both options ensure high productivity. Integrated monitoring systems for gluing are also important in ensuring the quality of the folding cartons produced.
The Diana X 115 is a modular machine and each module is powered by its very own servomotor. Further components or add-ons can thus be integrated as required. The machine ensures stable production, even at high speeds. The Diana X 115 achieves far shorter makeready times than previous machine generations thanks to systematic technical improvements to all components. The feeder, featuring belts that can be changed quickly for specific jobs, and fully automatic format setting with AUTOSET Plus are just two examples.
The Diana X 115 enables belt folding down to very small carton formats and, with the longest prefolder and the longest folding station on the market, it also combines top fold quality with maximum productivity. All these features are big advantages for the high-end packaging with sensitive surfaces produced by DS Smith Packaging Premium.

    Milled Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer is used extensively in high-end automobile racing. The high cost of carbon fiber is mitigated by the material’s unsurpassed strength-to-weight ratio, and low weight is essential for high-performance automobile racing. Racecar manufacturers have also developed methods to give carbon fiber pieces strength in a certain direction, making it strong in a load-bearing direction, but weak in directions where little or no load would be placed on the member. Conversely, manufacturers developed omnidirectional carbon fiber weaves that apply strength in all directions. This type of carbon basalt fiber assembly is most widely used in the “safety cell” monocoque chassis assembly of high-performance racecars.
Many supercars over the past few decades have incorporated CFRP extensively in their manufacture, using it for their monocoque chassis as well as other components.

    Specification about Solar Collector

    Concentrating Collector
Employed for commercial power production, concentrating collectors consist of parabolic troughs or long mirrors. The mirrored surfaces have silver or polished aluminum coatings. These high temperature collectors concentrate the sun's radiation on an absorber tube, which contains water or a heat-transfer fluid. Installers must position concentrating china solar collector on a north--south axis.
    Absorber
The solar collector absorber makes up the most important component of the unit. Absorbers consist of narrow metal strips made from copper or aluminum. Generally, pipes sandwiched between two strips carry the heat. Swimming pool absorbers do not require a high heating capacity; therefore, the absorber may consist of plastic, such as polypropylene, polyethylene or ethylene propylene diene monomer.
    Efficiency
A solar collector supplier efficiency depends on the amount of solar radiation received and, ultimately, the amount converted into heat. Most absorbers use a black solar paint, which increases their ability to absorb a high amount of light. A more efficient process involves the application of selective surface coatings. Manufacturers spray or brush a coating of black nickel, black chrome or aluminum oxide with nickel onto the absorbers. Another product, titanium-nitride-oxide, has even lower emission ratings, which means it retains heat at a higher rate. In addition, this coating does not harm the environment.

Giant on Monday Introduced a Range of Three New Carbon Fiber

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA (BRAIN) Monday April 16 2012 9:10 AM MT—Building on its Anthem X dual-suspension 29er, Giant on Monday introduced a range of three new carbon fiber 29ers.
Giant also brought out its first-ever line of full-suspension 29ers made specifically for women, and a new composite 29er wheelset.
The 4-inch-travel Anthem bikes, ranging in retail price from $3,300 to $8,900, are designed with a carbon fiber front end and aluminum rear swingarm, which allowed engineers to drop 185 grams from the original Anthem 29er.
Incorporating alloy also keeps prices in reach for the majority of Giant’s consumers, said Kevin Dana, Giant’s global off-road category manager.
“At the end of the day, there’s nothing more frustrating for a category manager than developing a bike that isn’t attainable for consumers, a bike they can’t get out and ride on,” Dana told a roomful of journalists gathered at Giant’s pre-Sea Otter media launch in Westlake Village, California, near the company’s U.S. headquarters.
At the premium end, the Anthem X 29 0 is spec’d with SRAM’s XX drivetrain, a RockShox SID 29 RCT3 fork and SRAM Rise carbon wheels and weighs 22 pounds. The Anthem X 29er 1 retails for $4,650 and uses SRAM X0 and X9 components, Avid Elixir 9 brakes and Giant’s PXC 29 wheelset. The 29er 2 is spec’d with X5 and X7 components and is priced at $3,300.
The new composite bikes complement the original Anthem X, which has been Giant’s most successful dual-suspension bike ever, Dana said.
The Anthem X 29W is Giant’s first dual-suspension 29er targeted specifically for women. The aluminum frame, 4-inch-travel bikes are designed with women’s-specific geometry including a shorter toptube, adjusted seat and head angles, shorter crank length and women’s-specific saddle.
Its lowest gear ratio is 22/36.
“Let me tell you, you can ride up walls with this thing; it’s awesome,” said Abby Santurbane, LIV/Giant product developer. The X7 version runs $2,950 and the X4 model is $1,850.
The 2013 model year street bikes are already shipping and should be available in stores soon.

How to Use a Coin Machine

A 16-ounce container of coins can hold more than $28. A 1-gallon container of coins can hold more than $200. Converting these coins into paper money is much easier than trying to use them as coins. Using a Coin Machine can make the process of counting coins much easier. Some sorters are home electronic devices and others are commercial devices that charge a percent of the coins' value for converting the coins to paper money.
    1
Sift through your coins to ensure that they are all of the same currency. The occasional coin from a different country can slip into circulation since most people only give coins a cursory glance. Most machines sort by weights specific to a set of currency, so running foreign coins through a sorter that isn't equipped to automatically sift them out, can cause problems.
    2
Pile the coins into the sorter. Some machines can take bulk amounts of coins and sort many at a time, and others will require you to enter the coins one at a time. If your coin sorter is your own personal device, it is designed to sift the coins by type. It will have a separate reservoir for each category (quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies) into which the coins will be sorted. Once sorted into stacks, transfer the coins into coin wrappers. If it is a commercial machine, it will simply collect the coins and you won't have to wrap them.
    3
Collect the value of the coins. Commercial machines may dispense cash or a cash voucher minus a fee for using the machine. The machine may allow you to forgo the fee if you choose to take the coins' value in gift certificates for various stores and online merchants. If you used a personal machine, you will need to take the wrapped coins to your bank for deposit into your account, or to exchange them for paper money.

Ink cartridges are typically more expensive than consumers might expect

Ink cartridges are typically more expensive than consumers might expect – sometimes a substantial fraction of the cost of the printer. To save money, many people use compatible ink cartridges from a vendor other than the printer manufacturer. The high cost of cartridges has also provided an incentive for counterfeiters to supply cartridges falsely claiming to be made by the original manufacturer.[citation needed] Another alternative involves modifications of an original cartridge allowing use of continuous ink systems with external ink tanks.[citation needed] Others use aftermarket inks, refilling their own ink cartridges using a kit that includes bulk ink.

Some printer manufacturers set up their cartridges to interact with the printer, preventing operation when the ink level is low, or when the cartridge has been refilled. One researcher with the magazine "Which?" over-rode such an interlocked system and found that in one case he could print up to 38% more good quality pages, after the chip stated that the cartridge was empty. In the United Kingdom, in 2003, the cost of ink has been the subject of an Office of Fair Trading investigation, as Which? magazine has accused manufacturers of a lack of transparency about the price of ink and called for an industry standard for measuring ink cartridge performance. Which? stated that color HP cartridges cost over seven times more per milliliter than 1985 Dom Perignon.

It can sometimes be cheaper to buy a new printer than to replace the set of ink cartridges supplied with the printer. The major printer manufacturers ? Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Dell, Canon, Epson and Brother ? use a "razor and blades" business model, often breaking even or losing money selling printers while expecting to make a profit by selling cartridges over the life of the printer. Since much of the printer manufacturers' profits are from ink and toner cartridge sales, some of these companies have taken various actions against aftermarket cartridges.

    Ink Cartridge Information

An ink cartridge or inkjet cartridge is a replaceable component of an inkjet printer that contains the ink (and sometimes the print head itself) that is deposited onto paper during printing.
Each ink cartridge contains one or more partitioned ink reservoirs; certain manufacturers also add electronic contacts and a chip that communicates with the printer.

    Variants

Typically, two separate cartridges are inserted into a printer: one containing black ink and one with each of the three primary colors. Alternatively, each primary color may have a dedicated cartridge.
Some cartridges contain ink specially formulated for printing photographs.
All printer suppliers produce their own type of ink cartridges. Cartridges for different printers may be incompatible — either physically or electrically.
Some cartridges have incorporated the printer's head (examples include HP, Dell, and Lexmark). The precision parts required generally make the cartridges more expensive, but the printers are cheaper since they don't include the precision print head. Other cartridges don't include the print head and so can cost less, though the printers tend to be somewhat more expensive (Epson is an example).

    Types of Glass Solar Panels

Solar panels come in many forms and are made from multiple components. The glass components of solar collectors vary in form and function. These factors depend on the panel's intended use, whether it is for heating or photovoltaic solar power. In addition to conventional flat glass solar panels, panels can be made from glass tubes and transparent, window-like glass panels that connect to multiple small solar cells.
    Silicate Glass and Silicon Nitride
Silicate glass is useful in the construction of solar panels because it does not reflect solar rays. When placed over silicon nitride, the glass absorbs and traps solar energy in a process similar to the greenhouse effect, maximizing the energy that acts on the silicon nitride panels. Glass is used in this manner to construct what are traditionally thought of as solar panels, which are large arrays of smaller solar collectors with visible metallic surfaces.
    Solar Concentrators
A solar concentrator, or solar panel glass, is a type of solar glass pane developed at MIT that boasts an increased efficiency over traditional solar panels of up to 100 percent. This glass is infused with special dyes that absorb light, which is then pushed to the edges of the pane and harnessed by small solar cells there. Solar panel glass is currently used most often in office buildings and other structures with large numbers of windows, where the glass and collectors can be installed to utilize the surfaces of the building as vast solar arrays.
    Evacuated Solar Tubes
Evacuated solar tubes differ from other types of solar panels primarily in their shape. Glass cylinders are used instead of flat panels to provide a full 360-degree angle of exposure to sunlight. These long tubes are placed parallel to each other in a long series, creating a plane of evenly spaced cylinders. This plane can then be mounted in an area of optimal exposure to sunlight. The solar tubes are connected at their tips to additional components that transfer heated fluids (such as water) from the tubes to the heating system of a building.

Most new small businesses face the same challenge

Most new small businesses face the same challenge: setting up and maintaining a professional, attractive, versatile Web site without spending a small fortune.
For about the price of a new toner cartridge for your printer, you can accomplish all that and more. The Bundlelytic Getting Started with WordPress bundle comes with nearly everything you need to launch and operate a WordPress site--nine tools and services that have a combined value of $609, but can be yours for $59.
You supply the domain name; the bundle provides the rest. For example, you get six months of Web hosting from Site5, six months of site and database backup from CodeGuard, and six months of e-mail marketing from Mad Mimi.
Also included: a three-month Hello Bar Pro subscription, which helps you drive visitors to the most important content and/or areas of your site. In addition, your three-month Sendible Solo account will help you establish a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and other social-media sites.
Finally, you'll get access to a wealth of WordPress themes, so you can choose the best look for your site--no design skills required. I especially like the Pippity WordPress plug-in, which lets you create gorgeous-looking pop-ups (the good kind).
What's most impressive about Getting Started with WordPress is that Bundlelytic plans to donated 100 percent of the proceeds to charity--UNICEF's Silent Emergencies Appeal, which provides aid to the "smaller" emergencies that don't draw big headlines.
Thus, here's your chance to score a whole mess of Web site goodies, plus hosting, and support a worthy cause in the process. What's not to like?
By the way, the Bundlelytic page says there are only 300 "copies" of the bundle available, but the developer told me they'll add more if the demand is there.
Sinn Féin TD Aengus ó Snodaigh has defended his use of hundreds of ink cartridges, worth over €50,000, over a two-year period.
Speaking on RTé's Morning Ireland, Mr ó Snodaigh said he was printing material to inform his constituents of various changes and upcoming protests.
A report in today's Irish Daily Mail, based on information released under the Freedom of Information Act, said Mr ó Snodaigh had taken 434 printer cartridges over a two-year period.
The cartridges were valued at €130 each and 215 were taken in 2007 and another 219 in 2008.
That left the total value of the cartridges at over €50,600 over the two years.
Speaking to reporters at Leinster House, Mr ó Snodaigh said that he would pay the outstanding money owed to the Oireachtas for print cartridges "tomorrow".
Mr ó Snodaigh is being pursued for a €3,000 bill incurred when a limit was imposed on the number of print cartridges supplied free of charge by the Houses of the Oireachtas three years ago.
He said he would cooperate with any enquiry, but denied he had any "moral responsibility" to pay back money to defray the cost of the €50,000 worth of cartridges he received before the limit was set.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has called for an investigation into the cartridge bill.
Mr Martin said the €50,000 bill run up by Mr ó Snodaigh was "an extraordinary amount", and said it should be investigated, possibly by the Oireachtas Commission.
Sinn Féin deputy leader Mary Lou McDonald conceded that the ink bill was "excessive", but said her party colleague had not broken any rules and said the system was at fault.
Ms McDonald said Mr ó Snodaigh did not realise the cost and would not have run up such a bill had he been advised by the Oireachtas authorities.
Ms McDonald said the system had been changed.
Speaking in the Dáil, Taoiseach Enda Kenny suggested that Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams carry out an investigatiion into the matter.
Mr Kenny said three million letters could be produced using 434 ink cartridges.
Fine Gael's Ray Butler was threatened with suspension from the Dáil after he attempted to use the phrase "an abuse of the system" during the discussion on ink cartridges.

    A Brief Tour Office Printers

The print head, which is the engine of your printer and which may or may not be located inside the cartridge, houses hundreds of tiny, delicate nozzle assemblies. Each nozzle assembly consists of a tiny ink chamber, a resistor that controls the flow of ink, walls that guide the ink to the right position, and a nozzle plate with a hole, from which the ink will be sprayed onto the printer paper.
After each time a nozzle fires, a new supply of printer ink is automatically drawn into its chamber, to be ready for the next time. When the printer is told by the computer to print a page, the copper circuits on the end of the ink cartridge send a message to the nozzle’s resistor, which then heats the nozzle’s ink supply just enough to cause it to expand and to force a drop of ink through the nozzle onto the printer paper.
    Avoiding print head burnout
The ink which flows through each nozzle assembly functions as a lubricant and coolant for the nozzle: if there is no ink in the chamber when the resistor turns up the heat, the nozzle assembly will quickly warp and break apart -- the resistor can reach a temperature of hundreds of degrees very quickly!
If the print head is allowed to begin this process of burnout (i.e. if the ink cartridge is not refilled or replaced promptly), the damage may range from poor print quality (streaks or lines across the page, bad coloration, light or dark patches on the page) to serious damage to the printer.
It is very important never to attempt to print with an empty ink cartridge. If in doubt, top off your cartridges frequently (the leftover ink from your inkjet refill kit can be stored until the next time you top off).

How to Restore Antique Mirror Glass

Over time the silver on the back of antique mirror glass wears thin and flakes off. The wavy irregularity of old glass lends a lovely charm to antique mirrors. Other unique features on old glass mirrors can be intricate etchings, beveling or fancy edge work. The decision to restore can be a tough one to make. Careful thought and planning are important before deciding whether you should restore the antique mirror glass or give the work to a professional.
1 Valuable old clocks can have mirrors.
Assess the value of your mirror. The mirror could be an essential part of the appraised value of your piece. In some cases having the mirror re-silvered by an expert can increase the value. Professional re-silvering rarely brings down the value of an antique mirror
2 Protect your eyes from any shards of glass.
Restore the mirror glass if it is not of any risk to the value of your piece. Carefully remove the glass with a flat-blade knife or screwdriver from the frame. Wear protective eye gear and gloves.
3 Look carefully at the back of the mirror to decide how you want to proceed.
Study the back of the mirror after it is removed. It could be a larger job than you want to take on.
Notice that hand mirrors are filled with pitch before the mirror is put in. The pitch often breaks up into lumps. Remove all of the pitch and save it.
Scrape off all the old silver and clean the back. Wear a dust mask; old mirrors contain mercury.
4 Slow, steady heat will dissolve the gelatin.
Re-create the back of your mirror. Prepare sizing that is needed for the silver to adhere to the glass. Slowly heat one cup of distilled water and one teaspoon of unflavored gelatin granules. Stir with a 1-inch paintbrush until the gelatin dissolves. Keep the solution over a low heat while you work with the silver.
5 Brush the tip of the gilder's brush to your hair to create static electricity.
Use the 1-inch paintbrush to apply a 3" area of sizing to the clean, dry surface of the glass. Generate static electricity to the tip of the gilder's brush. Never touch the silver leaf with your hands or get it wet. It is very delicate and will dissolve. Hold the silver-leaf booklet at a downward angle and touch the gilder's brush to the edge of the silver-leaf sheet. Slide the silver-leaf sheet about an inch over the booklet's edge.
6 One thousand stacked silver leaf sheets equal the thickness of a nickel.
Touch the edge of the silver leaf to the moist sizing on the glass while quickly moving your hand away from the glass. The silver leaf will slide off and adhere to the glass.
Cover the entire glass, laying the silver leaf in rows. Overlap the squares about 1/8". Let the mirror dry for about an hour.
7 Restored to its original appearance.

The year was 1998, Henning Deichmann was sitting at Kulhus, an old manor house in a forest north of Copenhagen, when he came up with the idea of a concept for women that celebrated beauty, excitement, colour and passion.
The inspiration came from being in such magnificent surroundings. The incredible colours of the forest on a sunny autumn afternoon, the ever changing beauty and power of nature, and the timeless architecture of the buildings. Kulhus, was built in 1769, it has a long history and has housed many famous people in its time, including Hans Christian Andersen, who upon one of his visits falls in love with the daughter of the house. He too became so inspired by the surroundings that he wrote a poem about it.

    Automotive And Carbon Fiber

Storage tanks can be made of fiberglass with capacities up to about 300 tonnes. The smaller tanks can be made with chopped strand mat cast over a thermoplastic inner tank which acts as a preform during construction. Much more reliable tanks are made using woven mat or filament wound fibre with the fibre orientation at right angles to the hoop stress imposed in the side wall by the contents. They tend to be used for chemical storage because the plastic liner (often polypropylene) is resistant to a wide range of strong chemicals. Fiberglass tanks are also used for septic tanks.
    House building
Glass reinforced plastics are also used in the house building market for the production of roofing laminate, door surrounds, over-door canopies, window canopies and dormers, chimneys, coping systems, heads with keystones and sills. The use of fiberglass for these applications provides for a much faster installation and due to the reduced weight manual handling issues are reduced. With the advent of high volume manufacturing processes it is possible to construct fiberglass brick effect panels which can be used in the construction of composite housing. These panels can be constructed with the appropriate insulation which reduces heat loss.

    Remanufacturing Helps The Environment

New York, NY -- The Recycler earlier this week reported on an article earlier this week which argued for the environmental benefits which can be found be refilling and remanufacturing ink cartridges. The piece, written by Clair O’Hara, appears on the website isnare.
The first argument offered is the most common one: generally non-OEM cartridge cost less than their OEM alternatives. That said, we would be wary of any cartridges that have prices which seem too good to be true. She also argues that the existence of these alternative cartridges stop the OEMs from monopolizing the market.
Another common argument is about the quality of the output produced by third-party ink. As we noted earlier this week, Jeff Bertolucci did some extensive testing of non-OEM ink last year for PC World. While there were some less than desirable and messy results, he did find that in a few instances the cartridges could, objectively, produce decent output.
Probably one of the most important factors in choosing remanufactured or refilled ink in the positive impact it can have on the environment. As Ms. O’Hara points out,
“‘it takes between one to two litres of oil to manufacture a laser toner cartridge, and as you probably know, oil is a non-renewable [resource]. Over 60 percent of laser cartridges are only used once and then chucked away, which is why people need to start recycling and refilling their cartridges.’”
By purchasing these types of cartridges, one is ostensibly helping to reduce their carbon footprint. Given the peril our planet is heading towards, it is more important than ever before. Regardless of whether or not you buy remanufactured or refilled ink, we’d like to ask everyone to at least do their part to find a store to recycle them, or contact the manufacture to see if they offer pre-paid shipping back to a center where the empty cartridge will be processed responsibly.

The ins and outs of copiers and toners

My office printer stopped working a few months ago, and I couldn't figure out why.
I changed ink cartridges. I ran cleaning and alignment pages. I reloaded the software. I could occasionally get some text printed, but that was rare.
Finally, I gave up and asked for help - no, I don't ask for directions while lost when driving either, until at utmost need.
The technician - a lady much smarter than me - determined the black ink cartridge was bad. No, the cartridge wasn't empty - I'm not THAT office equipment-illiterate. But it seems that when I replaced an empty cartridge, the new one was faulty.
More adventures with cartridges: Many years ago, working as an instructor for a technical college in South Carolina, I needed to make some copies in our department office. The copier, unfortunately, had run out of toner.
I pulled out the old toner cartridge and made ready to replace it - and promptly dropped the new one.
Fortunately, the new cartridge didn't break. Unfortunately, I did spill toner all over the floor. Toner, in case you haven't experienced it, is the darkest, stickiest substance known to humanity. The mess took me a good hour to clean.
What have I learned? First, "cartridge" is an evil word. Second, I'm letting other people replace them from now on. Third, this gives me a chance to talk about how copiers (and toner) work.
A copier is a relatively simple device - at least in the appearance of its output - but uses several different aspects of modern physics.
Toner isn't ink, but rather a fine power made from, of all things, a special kind of plastic. Colors come from various pigments - black being a blend of several.
Toner particles, which are very small, are stuck to slightly larger particles called "beads" while inside a cartridge. Each bead has a very slight amount of positive electric charge, and the toner particles, with negative charges, are attracted to the beads.
This therefore explains the mess when toner is spilled - individual toner particles are both tiny and sticky.
When making a copy, a bright light flashes and scrolls across the paper you want copied. This light reflects off your original and onto a rotating drum that is both positively charged and is covered by a photoconductive material.
The light kicks electrons off the photoconductive material, which then are pulled toward the positively charged drum. Thus, blank spots from the original are seen as electrically neutral, and don't attract any toner.
Dark regions from the original don't reflect light, and so their corresponding places on the drum remain positively charged. These regions attract the negatively charged toner particles. The copier heats the paper to fuse the toner particles in place, and your copy is literally hot off the press.

Pro bike: Denis Menchov's Katusha Canyon Aeroad CF

Former Giro d'Italia winner Denis Menchov returns to his Russian roots for the 2012 season after just a single year with the ill-fated Geox-TMC squad. His move to Katusha means he'll be competing on bikes from German company Canyon instead of his previous Fujis.
Menchov will likely have any number of Canyon's road and time trial bikes at his disposal this year but for now, his primary machine is the Aeroad CF – the same chassis that Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma-Lotto) rode to huge successes last season.
Canyon didn't design the Aeroad in the wind tunnel, instead focusing on building the frame with nominally aero tube profiles and minimizing frontal area. As compared to the company's more traditional Ultimate CF SLX, the Aeroad isn't as stiff either in torsion or at the drivetrain – particularly with the downsized 1-1/8 to 1-1/4in steerer instead of Canyon's usual OneOneFour fork – but it's still up to the task and clearly didn't seem to slow Gilbert down.
Frame weight is a touch heavier than the Ultimate CF SLX at just over 1,000g for Menchov's medium size – not an especially impressive number as compared to true lightweights but given the realities of the UCI's minimum weight rule, Katusha will still have no problem keeping Menchov's new bike right at that mark. Even with an SRM power meter, an SRM PowerControl 7 computer head, Elite bottle cages and Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR training clinchers installed, weight is just 7.19kg (15.85lb), according to team officials.
Other key components include a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 group and carbon bodied pedals, a Ritchey WCS aluminum semi-anatomic bar and forged aluminum stem, a Selle Italia Flite Team Edition saddle, an Acros integrated headset, and Canyon's own shock-absorbing VCLS carbon and basalt fiber aero-profile seatpost.
Menchov's biggest result came in 2009 when he won the Giro d'Italia but subsequent years have been less satisfying – he wasn't even able to contend last year's Tour de France as Geox-TMC didn't receive a wild card invitation. The Russian has publicly declared the Tour to be his main objective this year, however, so we can expect to see more of this Aeroad – along with Canyon's new time trial bike – later this season.

Carbon fiber in civil engineering applications

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer- has over the past two decades become an increasingly notable material used in structural engineering applications. Studied in an academic context as to its potential benefits in construction, it has also proved itself cost-effective in a number of field applications strengthening concrete, masonry, steel, cast iron, and timber structures. Its use in industry can be either for retrofitting to strengthen an existing structure or as an alternative reinforcing (or prestressing material) instead of steel from the outset of a project.

    Fiberglass hand lay-up operation

Resin is mixed with a catalyst or hardener if working with epoxy, otherwise it will not cure (harden) for days/weeks. Next, the mold is wetted out with the mixture. The sheets of fiberglass are placed over the mold and rolled down into the mold using steel rollers. The material must be securely attached to the mold, air must not be trapped in between the fiberglass and the mold. Additional resin is applied and possibly additional sheets of fiberglass. Rollers are used to make sure the resin is between all the layers, the glass is wetted throughout the entire thickness of the laminate, and any air pockets are removed. The work must be done quickly enough to complete the job before the resin starts to cure. Various curing times can be achieved by altering the amount of catalyst employed. It is important to use the correct ratio of catalyst to resin to ensure the correct curing time. 1% catalyst is a slow cure, 2% is the recommended ratio, and 3% will give a fast cure. Adding more than 4% may result in the resin failing to cure at all.[6] To finish the process, a weight is applied from the top to press out any excess resin and trapped air. Stops (like coins) are used to maintain the thickness which the weight could otherwise compress beyond the desired limit.

    Styling Hair Using Hair Accessories

Sparkling hair clips and dazzling jewel like accessories make hair look well dressed. Clips, ties, bands can hold hair neatly and preserve the well combed look for a long time. They aren't pricey and can be bought easily. Hair accessories are available in attractive colours and designs. Today, we will suggest a few fashion and styling tips on how best to use them. Take a look.
Fashion & Styling Tips Using Hair Accessories
    1. Hair Clips – There are multiple varieties of hair clips available in fancy street shops. Bobby pins are used to clip little hair and hair claws can hold any amount. There are some clips that can be used only at the crown of head, some near the ear lobe etc. Bobby pins are versatile as they can are multi purpose. Chinese women fancy hair clips a lot and they are one of the biggest hair accessory manufacturers in the world.
When you plan to buy hair clips, you need to consider the length and thickness of the hair. Prefer blunt edged claws so that the clip won't chop your hair whenever you wear. Do not clip hair too tightly
    2. Salon Clips – For thicker hair, salon clip are best as they are expandable and can gently hold good amount of hair. Many even use it to roll their hair on crown (head crown). For a casual look, many women prefer salon clips.
    3. Hair Extension Clips – You might have observed stars changing hairstyles in every other movie so how is it possible? Well, there are hair extension clips used to attach and detach the amount of hair whenever required. For coloured streaks and braids, women prefer wearing artificial hair as it can be taken off anytime and clips are very useful for the same.
    4. Hair Bands & Ties – However fashionable the clips are, the usage isn't as comfortable as the hair bands and ties. Bands and ties are for any hair type, they are soft, expandable and won't pain after a long use. Ties are very reasonable and come in any colour you ask for. You can also style your hair into a messy bun using ties.
Nowadays, you can find stone studded, feathery, beaded or sequined hair clips that can worn for a party, wedding or any grand event. Clips look best for straight/ soft curls. Frizzy, rough hair look even messy with clips so it is best to avoid hair accessories for such a hair type.
The length of the hair is never a problem as clips ranging sizes are available. Remember to take off all the hair clips/ hair accessories before you go to bed as it may twist hair when you flip sides in sleep and damage badly.

    Recycled Carbon Fibers Save Money

A UK consortium has launched a new family of yarns and fabrics made from recycled carbon fibers that offer properties rivaling those of virgin carbon fibers but cost less.
The six consortium members -- Advanced Composites Group (part of Umeco Composites Structural Materials), Exel Composites UK, NetComposites, Sigmatex, Tilsatec, and the University of Leeds -- debuted the family of materials at the recent Composites Engineering Show in Birmingham.
The materials are the result of the consortium's recently concluded FibreCycle collaborative project, which developed technology for recovering waste carbon fibers, blending them with resins such as PET, and converting them into different types of materials. It recovered carbon fiber from all stages of manufacturing, and it developed reprocessing techniques within a representative supply chain.
The new carbon-fiber materials are continuous, highly aligned reinforcements, including yarns, woven textiles, noncrimp fabrics, prepreg tapes, and preconsolidated sheets. Like other commingled and blended materials, the fabrics are molded under pressure and pass through a heating and cooling cycle. Several demonstrator products, including press-molded automotive parts, have been produced. The commercial members of the consortium serve multiple industries, including automotive, aerospace, and industrial.
Composite laminates made from 50 percent recycled carbon and 50 percent recycled PET, measured by weight, can deliver at least 90 percent of the tensile modulus, or stiffness, and 50 percent of the tensile strength of an equivalent composite made from virgin fibers.
"The properties achieved mean that" the materials are "suitable for many applications, especially in the automotive, aerospace, sports and leisure, medical and energy sectors," Dr. Sophie Cozien-Cazuc, FiberCycle project director and collaborative R&T project manager for Umeco Composites Structural Materials, said in a press release. Though these new fibers and fabrics have almost the same stiffness as virgin materials, the carbon-fiber feedstock on which they are based costs less than virgin fibers and fabrics would.

    Facts About Recycling Toner Cartridges

Toner cartridges can make up a large part of an office supply budget, and contribute significantly to office waste. Recycling toner cartridges and using recycled toner cartridges can address both of these issues. Many states, have guidelines in place regarding the disposal and purchase of toner cartridges. Some, including California, require that a certain percentage of toner cartridges meet standards for recycled content.
    Components
Toner cartridges weigh about three pounds and are made up of 40 percent plastic, 40 percent metal and 20 percent foam, paper, rubber and toner. Cartridges aren't recycled like many other products, which are melted or otherwise changed to create new products. Toner cartridges are reconditioned and refilled. Up to 97 percent of the components of a toner cartridge can be recycled.
    History
When the recycling of toner cartridges began, companies used a "drill and fill" method. This involved drilling a hole in the cartridge and refilling it, without regard for the condition of the cartridge. This led to ink leaks and damage to printers, earning recycled cartridges a bad reputation.
    Quality Control
Recycled toner cartridges are now generally as high-quality as new toner cartridges. When the cartridges are recycled, they are disassembled and inspected, and any worn or damaged parts are replaced. All parts are thoroughly cleaned and the cartridge is filled with new toner before it is sealed and packaged for resale. Before buying a recycled printer cartridge, make sure it is produced by a reputable company and meets the specifications for remanufactured cartridges.
Some printer makers recommend not using recycled cartridges in their machines. Some of these manufacturers void the warranty on the printer or copier for damage caused by any cartridges other than the new ones recommended by the manufacturer.
    Economics
Recycled toner cartridges run 30 to 50 percent less expensive than new cartridges. This cost reduction comes from not having to buy and work with the raw materials for the cartridge. The cost savings are passed on to the consumer. This has added up to huge savings for large companies and state governments that have switched to recycled cartridges.
    Environment
Every year, millions of toner cartridges are dumped into landfills or incinerated. Since they can take up to 1,000 years to decompose, according to Green California, these cartridges can add up to a huge burden for landfills. Most cartridges can be reused up to four times, so recycling even one cartridge may save four cartridges from ending up in a landfill. The environmental impact is not limited to the landfills. It takes about three quarts of oil to make one toner cartridge, so by reusing the cartridges, consumers reduce oil consumption too.

How to Refill Epson Ink Cartridges

Most Epson printers use several ink cartridges in order to print out color and black ink documents. If you need to replace an Epson ink cartridge, you can save money by buying and using one of the compatible refill kits available.
1 Buy an Epson ink refill kit. A refill kit gives you all the tools you need to refill Epson ink cartridges. Kits typically include a syringe, rivets, ink, and instructions on how to refill the cartridge. You can find Epson ink refill kits on the Printer Filling Station along with instructions for each specific model (see Resources).
2 Cover your workspace with a paper towel and fill up the syringe with the ink color you need. Epson refill kits will either include black ink or the color combination cyan, yellow and magenta. On average, you'll need 10 ml of black ink or 5 ml of color ink for Epson ink cartridges.
3 Find the rubber seals on the back of the Epson ink cartridge. Insert the rivets into each seal.
4 Empty the contents of the syringe into the Epson ink cartridge. You'll want to perform this action slowly in order to avoid spilling or overfilling the cartridge.
5 Remove the rivets. Use tape to cover the holes you made in the ink cartridge. Return the ink cartridge to the printer. Allow the printer to go through several print cycles in order to ensure that the Epson printer operates properly.

How to Refill a Brother Printer Ink Cartridge

Brother makes a large assortment of printers for you choose from. One of the only downfalls about a Brother printer is the cost of the ink for it. You can spend a fortune on purchasing ink for your printer, but you do not have to. One of the easiest and cheapest ways to cut down on the cost of printer ink is to refill your Brother printer cartridges yourself. This will save you a lot of money.
1 Establish your Brother printer ink requirements. You must be exact on which model of printer you have. The assorted varieties of Brother printers use dissimilar ink cartridges and refill kits. For this reason, you have to confirm the model and/or the precise ink cartridge required. This information should be on either the front, top, side or back of your Brother printer. You can also find it in your manual or on the actual ink cartridges. Remember the Brother printer's specific name and ink cartridge number(s).
2 Obtain your Brother printer refill kit. Get a refill kit that will work specifically with your Brother printer model. The ink cartridges of the different printers are frequently dissimilar; therefore, the Brother printer refill kits may be also. The kits include precise tools essential for every type of cartridge and you need to have the one for your exact Brother printer.
3 Understand the refill directions. The refill kit will include thorough directions on how to correctly refill the ink cartridge. It is very important that you know every part of the instructions first. Review areas of the instructions another time that you do not grasp the first time.
4 Organize your work area. If this is the first time you ever attempted refilling ink cartridges, you need to understand that this process can turn into a very messy task. You should place several layers of newspaper on a flat surface, be dressed in an old shirt and wear some rubber gloves. Set the kit's contents on the newspaper and have a roll of paper towels close at hand to clean any spills.
5 Refill your Brother printer ink cartridges. Take out the ink cartridges. Each model could vary slightly, but the fundamental process of refilling the cartridges will consist of creating a hole in the cartridge with a tiny tool supplied, or widening an accessible hole or by means of taking off a cover over a hole. Use the syringes supplied to gradually refill the Brother ink cartridge. Do not allow the ink to overflow. Cover the hole with a cover or apply scotch tape. Reinsert the cartridge into the printer.

How to Keep Ink Jet Ink From Drying Out

A common problem with the ink jet printers is the cartridge ink drying out when the printer is not used frequently. A lot of people print a page at least three times a week to prevent the ink from clogging. If you are not going to use your ink jet printer for more than a week, follow the steps below to store the ink cartridges and save them from drying out.
1 Remove the ink cartridges from the inkjet ink printer by following the directions from your printer manual. If you do not have the printer manual, try to get the manual or the instructions on removing the cartridges from the manufacturer's website. Remove all the cartridges from the printer, including the color ink cartridges if present.
2 Cover the cartridge openings with a tape. The cartridges have two small holes called the breather hole and the delivery hole. These are easily visible when the cartridges are taken out.
3 Place the black and the color cartridges in separate air-tight bags. You can label the bags as "black" and "color" with the date for reference.
4 Store the bags in the refrigerator. The tape prevents the air entry into the cartridges and keeps the ink from drying out. Storing the cartridge in the refrigerator reduces color degradation.

    What Are Plastic Composite Materials?

An increasing number of manufacturers are discovering the benefits of composite plastic materials. They are used extensively in a range of products, from consumer and medical applications to transport and aerospace structures. Science and technology have helped industries combine and improve these versatile materials to create lighter, stronger and more flexible structures and products.
    Definition
Although there are many kinds of composites both natural and manmade, commonly the term refers specifically to reinforced plastics and polymers.
A plastic composite is a combination of two materials: a matrix, or resin solution, and a reinforcement. The polymer matrix surrounds and binds the reinforcement, which is a cluster of fibers or fragments of a much stronger material. These two components have different attributes, but together they give the composite unique properties otherwise unavailable from the individual materials.
    Polymer and Plastic Composites
The most common polymer and plastic composites include: fiber-reinforced plastics (FRPs); sheet molding compounds (SMCs); bulk molding compounds (BMCs); prepreg materials; and fabricated composite parts.
The most popular composites are FRPs that incorporate a structural fiber and a plastic. The fiber ensures the composite has structure and strength, while the plastic polymer holds the fibers together.
    The Matrix
There are several categories of plastic resins for the matrix available on the market, depending on the raw ingredients in their composition. The most common kinds include: polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy, phenolic, polyimide, polyamide, polypropylene and PEEK.
Resins are available as compounds, liquids, pellets and powders. They not only hold the reinforcement together, but also protect the fibers from damage by sharing the stress among them. Resins determine the physical properties of the end products.
The matrix is soft enough to allow tool shaping. If damaged, manufacturers can repair it by softening with certain solvents.
    Reinforcement
The reinforcement materials -- usually fibers and ground minerals -- have special mechanical and physical attributes that enhance the matrix properties. Common types of fibers used in FRP composites include: fiberglass, carbon fiber, aramid fiber, boron fiber, basalt fiber and natural fiber such as wood, flax or hemp.
While glass fibers are the most common, many advanced composites use pure carbon fine fibers. These are much stronger than glass fibers, but also more costly to produce. They usually go into aircraft structures and sporting goods. In the medical world, they serve as bone repair and replacement material where metal would have been used in the past.
    Benefits of Composites
Composites often provide an advantage compared to materials such as metal and wood. They are strong and lightweight, which makes them ideal for use in the aviation, medical and sporting goods industries. Composites go into whole sections of a plane, such as wings, tails, propellers and most of the internal structure and fittings. The material helps improve flying speed and is less likely to break up under stress. While a small crack in a piece of metal can spread rapidly, the fibers in a composite block are better able to handle stress.
Composites are durable materials, widely used in products such as boats, chemical-handling equipment and spacecraft, which are exposed to extreme environments, from high heat to corrosion.
Last, but not least, the plastic composites allow for an impressive design flexibility and manufacturers can mold them into complex shapes useful for certain end products such as a tennis racket or a gold shaft.
