How to Fix a Dry Ink Cartridge

Ink cartridge can stop working for a variety of reasons, but one of the most common is dry ink. Usually this is due the cartridge nozzles being clogged with dry ink, rather than the ink inside the cartridge being dry--a far less common occurrence for which there is no fix other than to purchase a new cartridge. Dried, clogged nozzles, however, is a problem that may be fixed.
1Run the printer's print-head cleaning utility. The location of this will vary depending on the printer, but it can usually be found on your computer under ;Contol Panel; and;Printers,; or in the case of printers with LED screens, on the printer's menu itself.
2Remove the cartridge from the printer if the print-head cleaner doesn't cause ink to flow. Soak it in a bowl or sink filled with enough warm water to immerse the print head nozzles, long enough to see ink beginning to dissolve and flow into the water. Alternately, you can soak a cloth in warm water and use it to clean the nozzles until you see ink begin to flow.
3Thoroughly dry the nozzles with a soft, lint-free cloth once the cleaning process is complete.
4Replace the cartridge into the printer and run the printer's print-head cleaning utility.
5Repeat the cleaning procedure if the cartridge still doesn't print. Reinstall and once again run the print-head cleaning utility.

Basalt fiber news

Basalt fiber or fibre is a material made from extremely fine fibers of basalt, which is composed of the minerals plagioclase, pyroxene, and olivine. It is similar to carbon fiber and fiberglass, having better physicomechanical properties than fiberglass, but being significantly cheaper than carbon fiber. It is used as a fireproof textile in the aerospace and automotive industries and can also be used as a composite to produce products such as camera tripods.
Manufacture
Basalt fiber is made from a single material, crushed basalt, from a carefully chosen quarry source and unlike other materials such as glass fiber, essentially no materials are added. The basalt is simply washed and then sent to be melted down.
The manufacture of basalt fiber requires the melting of the quarried basalt rock at about 1,400 °C (2,550 °F). The molten rock is then extruded through small nozzles to produce continuous filaments of basalt fiber. There are three main manufacturing techniques, which are centrifugal-blowing, centrifugal-multiroll and die-blowing. The fibers typically have a filament diameter of between 9 and 13 which is far enough above the respiratory limit of 5 to make basalt fiber a suitable replacement for asbestos. They also have a high elastic modulus, resulting in excellent specific tenacity—three times that of steel.

How to Dry Dye Based Inkjet Ink

Inkjet printers use two types of ink: dye-based ink and pigment-based ink. The biggest difference between the two is that pigment-based ink dries faster. For this reason, color printers often use pigment-based ink as dye-based ink dries so slowly that the colors bleed together. However, black-and-white printers often use dye-based inkjet ink, which is brighter than pigment-based ink. As dye-based ink dries so slowly, you need to handle the printouts with care.
1 Print one page from your dye-based inkjet printer. You will want to print the pages one at a time; if you stack the printouts on top of each other, they will smudge.
2 Let the page sit for at least thirty seconds. If you have no more pages to print and are not in a hurry, you can let the page sit until it dries completely. This can take up to five minutes. Continue to the next step, if you want to dry the ink faster.
3 Place the page slowly, print-side up, onto a flat surface.
4 Set a blow dryer on low heat and hold it at least 12 inches away from the page. Switch the blow dryer on to a low-air setting and slowly pass the dryer over the page. Moving the dryer too close will smudge the ink.
5 Repeat the process for all pages you have to print.

How to Build Cube Shelving?

Cube shelving are actually fun to build. Cubed shelves normally don't have a backing and are designed to sit on the wall for decorations or whatever you want to put on them.
1 I will tell you step by step how to build a cubed racking that is 4" by 4" all the way around. The first step to do is to cut 10 pieces of these cuts the exact measurement each. Sand the edges, add paint or lacquer or stain if you choose. I painted my white which seemed to look pretty cool. Use a glossy white paint if you choose this.
2 Once all of your pieces are cut you want to nail with 1 inch nails the pieces together side by side making a box out of them with no front or back. Continue to do this with ten pieces of wood's and you will have a cubed shelve with 3 openings.
3 Once this is completed mounting to the wall can be done by either hooks or small nails. You can also purchase adhesive to set to the wall and the set your hooks or nails. Its an easy project and looks cool. great for putting keys, wallets or whatever you like.

Jet Press 720 uses RAPIC technology

Jet Press 720 uses RAPIC technology*4 that coagulates pigments in ink rapidly to achieve sharp, bleed-free prints, and incorporates the proprietary four-level grayscale system*5 for grayscale reproduction to deliver high-quality printouts on a level exceeding offset printing in photographs, illustrations as well as text.
Single-pass printing provides the capability that the printer can output as many as 2,700 B2 sized sheet per hour (equivalent to 180 A4 sheets per minute). Yet, unlike offset printing, the printouts do not require extended drying time, and can be passed on to cutting, binding and other post-processing operations smoothly, making it possible to meet clients' request for quick delivery. Despite being an inkjet printer, this model can print on a diverse range of printing papers already available*6, rather than requiring specialized paper.

The seal of disapproval

We recently had our en suite fitted out with Showerwall shower-lining panels, which we specified on the basis of the company’s sales brochure. A few weeks after the Showerwall was fitted, we noticed swelling on the bottom edges of the panels. I made a complaint and the manufacturer’s representative came to investigate. His report basically said the Showerwall was not sealed well enough with? silicone sealant.
We had read the Showerwall brochure, which uses phrases such as, “waterproof panelling”, “non-porous surface”, “Showerwall comes with a 15-year guarantee that’s as watertight as the panelling itself”. I maintain that without those words and phrases, we would not have chosen this product. To have such an integral part of the structure of a bathroom wholly dependent on silicone sealant, even to a layman like me, seems ridiculous.
I believe their marketing is misleading. I called the company to state my feelings and they drew my attention to the phrase, “waterproof panelling system” (which occurs just twice in the brochure), meaning that from that I should have deduced that the panels themselves are not waterproof.

How to fix faded carbon fiber hood

Refinishing a faded carbon fiber hood is much like restoring any other painted surface. Much of the white glaze found on older carbon fiber parts is actually oxidation in the clear coat, the same as one might find on any painted surface. The main difference between carbon fiber and paint is that the fibrous weave of the material is much more UV-resistant than the colored pigment, meaning it takes much longer to actually lose its dark color. To refinish a carbon hood, you must only get past the layer of white oxidation on the surface with a good polishing system.

How to measure a shower cubicle

You may need to measure a shower cubicle for a number of reasons. For starters, you'll need to know the length and the width of the cubicle (as well as the position of the drain) if you're planning on installing a shower liner. You may also need the length and the height of a shower if you're buying a new shower door or shower curtain. You can find these measurements with a regular tape measure.
1 Measure the length and width of the floor of your shower cubicle. Convert inch measurements to feet by dividing each number by 12. Multiply the shower cubicle length in feet by the shower cubicle width in feet to find the square footage of your shower cubicle.
2 Find the distance -- in inches -- between your shower drain and the wall in your shower that contains the faucet. Measure the distance between your shower drain and the two walls perpendicular to the wall in your shower with the faucet. This will allow you to plan for shower liners more accurately as you now know precisely where the drain lies in relation to the other walls in the shower.
3 Measure from the floor of your shower to the height of either your shower curtain bar or the top of your existing shower door (whichever is applicable). This number will allow you to plan for either the installation of new shower doors or the purchase of a new shower curtain.

Printing on Guitar Picks with UV Curable Ink

In the past, Inkcups Now had printed on guitar picks with the PromoJET solvent inkjet printer. The results were great, however there was room for improvement. The solvent ink worked well on most plastics, on delrin (a common guitar pick plastic) however, the solvent ink would bead up and did not adhere well. On all other plastics the image quality was great.
We have printed these guitar picks with UV curable ink instead of solvent ink. The major difference is the adhesion to all plastic materials (including delrin.) This UV inkjet ink also has a white ink. White ink creates a base for the colored ink, allowing the colors to really stand out. The ink is a UV LED ink, meaning the ink is cured by low temperature light. The low temperature ensures no heat damage to the product.

Once you are finished, cover the opening with scotch tape or the cover provided. Put the HP cartridge in the printer and run several cleaning processes.

Next-generation inkjet digital press

FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO: Shigetaka Komori) has announced that it will launch the next-generation inkjet digital press Jet Press 720 for the Japanese market on December 1, the first printer in the world that achieves high-speed printing with 4-level grayscale at 1200dpi*2 on B2 sized sheet (maximum paper size: 750mm x 530mm), delivering image quality exceeding offset printing. Such high performance is achieved through the single-pass system*1, in which a printhead is aligned in straight line to increase the print width so that printing completes in one pass of a printhead.
Jet Press 720 uses the inkjet digital printing technology that combines Fujifilm's inkjet material technology and FUJIFILM Dimatix's (California, U.S.; hereinafter FDMX) printhead technology to offer high productivity as an advanced printing system.
Today's commercial printing has seen the surge of high-mix low-volume production, with more and more orders coming in as short-run units. Short-run printing typically involves quick start-up and suited for digital printing, which does not require the plate making process of offset printing. Until now, there were no digital printers that were capable of delivering the level of print quality equivalent to offset printing on B2 sized sheet. Many printing companies are forced to utilize offset presses for short-run jobs even if such devices are more suitable for large-volume printing. Introduction of Jet Press 720 is expected to bring innovation to the printing industry with its dramatically improved printing productivity.
Jet Press 720 is an inkjet digital printer capable of handling large-size output at high speed and high quality, made possible by using the world's first high-density and high-precision single-pass 1200dpi MEMS*3 printhead that has been newly developed, in combination with water-based pigment inkjet ink.

Clear Silicone Sealant

1 Insert the clear silicone sealant into the caulking gun. The caulking gun is a round, metal cylinder that will receive a tube of silicone sealant. It has a metal rod inside that pushes through the rear of the tube of silicone sealant and forces the butyl sealant out of a tip on the end of the silicone tube. By pressing a handle on the end of the caulking gun, you can control the amount of silicone that is dispensed.
2 Trim a small piece (about 2 inches long) off of the plastic tip located at the end of the sealant tube. The tube is about 1/8 inch wide at the very tip, and it flares out to 1/2 inch at the point where it attaches to the cylinder of sealant. Start with a small piece and then work your way up to the desired hole size as you need to.
3 Poke a long nail up through end of the tip and pierce the foil seal located inside the tip and at the base of the polysulfide sealant tube.
4 Press the tip against the area to be sealed and gently squeeze the handle located at the top of the caulking gun. Once you are done with the application, release the pressure from the caulking gun by disengaging the metal rod at the handle. Failure to do so will result in sealant leakage.
5 Smooth the bead of silicone sealant out with your finger. Clean up any excess silicone with a rag and paint thinner.
